"You and me, Tina. It's gonna happen. Mark my words, baby."
First of all: Russians....le sigh.
(I'm extremely partial to them, oh and Scots too.)
Valentina Tomic moves from California to New York to start a new life, to forget her broken heart; and NOT interested in having a relationship whatsoever. Everything goes according to plan, she opened a little boutique called "Safira" which is successful; and for the past 2 years, through her shop window, she stares at the man from across the street. THREE TIMES A DAY, whenever he came out for a smoke in front of the club "The White Rabbit", she would stare. He is an Adonis incarnate to say the least, but he never seemed to smile. So Tina cooked up a plan to make him do so. She anonymously sends him candy and a note to cheer him up. What she didn't expect was to find good looking man, with a killer smile, to be in her shop the very next morning asking who had sent the note to his boss! She was then taken to meet him: "Nikolai Leokov. Owner. The White Rabbit." (and ex-enforcer of the Russian mob!) After talking for a few minutes with the HOT AS SIN RUSSIAN/MEXICAN HUNK OF LOVE, she immediately warms up to him and asked to be friends.
Basically, he had just been sent to the FRIEND-ZONE wasteland. Every guy's horror story. He is shocked, and so the story begins.
Nik doesn't have girls as friends, he has fuck buddies; but when the little storm named Tina bursts into his life he can't help but like her. She is nice to a fault without a mean bone in her body (and with a mysterious past), which he is NOT used to. Tina and her wacky three best friends brighten his life with laughter; and along came his best friends who are just so increidibly smokin' nice too (I JUST CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOKS AND READ THEIR STORIES!).
They slowly fall for each other of coarse, but both of them think the other isn't interested. So may the angst and the sexual tension commence! OMG you can feel they're attraction for one another but they don't do anything about it because "they're just friends".
UGH! ITS FRUSTRATING!!!
The book is written with both of their POVs so its much more interesting.
Its not until someone from Nik's mob past threatens Tina that he can't take it anymore and makes a move.
THANK CHRIST!
Crazy ex-girlfriend, a bastard ex-boyfriend, insane killing stalker obsessed with you, rivaled gangs, and being kidnapped...sigh, and all Tina wanted was a quiet life. We find out about Tina's broken past and Nik's dangerous life. They go through amazing trials but their love prevails.
SWEET STORY.
I read it in a day.
FIVE STARS!
This book had me smiling with its wit; laughing out loud; nervous; and then fanning myself with its steamy scenes.
It was an emotional roller coaster I'd gladly go through all over again.

PS: this new series reminds me of:
"Wallbanger" by Alice Clayton;
the "Rock Chick" series (MY ALL TIME FAVORITE!) by Kristen Ashley;
and the "Neighbor from Hell" series by R.L. Mathewson
If you haven't read these books:
YOU HAVE NOT LIVED.
YOUR LIFE IS INCOMPLETE.
You will shed tears: of laughter, joy, and heartbreak.
