Fatal series (1-5) by Marie Force

  5 stars!!

Amazing books, amazing author!!!

I know I'm breaking a book-reviewer rule here not writing a review for each book of the series but I have my reasons:
 1. I'm lazy :D
 2. They are soo good that I didn't even stop between books to write about them. It was one after another. They are addictive, still feel the hangover.
 3. I'm lazy :p

Ok, so I fell in love with Marie Force's books when I first read The Wreck. Then the Treading Water Trilogy made me a Marie Force addict. I've read all her books and I love them all. This series was in my TBR list forever but I really don't know what made me wait so long to read them. Marie Force never disappoints. I've become a Fatal junkie. These books keep you reading -nonstop- until the end and then you want more, more and more. I have read similar books but in most of them I could determine who the killer was. In the Fatal series I NEVER figured out who the bad guy (or girl) was. I love the fact that at some point in the book you say Ha! I have this figured out, he/she killed her/him because this, this and that... yippie...

happy dance photo: tumblr_lhi45q7Jw31qcqljxo1_400.gif

...and guess what, you are so damn WRONG! She writes in a way that you can't pinpoint the mastermind behind the chaos until she decides it's time for you to know. Sometimes the bad guy comes out for the first time when you are more than half way through the book. Cool! ... I know. Let me just say I was never bored.

The main characters are Samantha Holland and Nick Cappuano. Sam is a badass, kickass Detective Sergeant, later Detective Lieutenant. She takes very seriously her job. Her life hasn't been easy; her mother left, her marriage failed, had four miscarriages, her quadriplegic father's shooter is nowhere to be found, and after a glorious night with Nick, she never heard or saw him, not until six years later when Nick’s friend Senator John O’Connor is murdered and she is in charge of the investigation. Nick is 6 feet and 4 inches of HOTNESS and also, he is his Senator friend’s chief of staff. His parents were both teenagers when they had him so his grandma took care of him in her way but something was missing and he found it when he spent a night with Sam. But Sam never returned his calls. After six years they reunite and the connection they felt years ago was there, buzzing and vibrating like time and distance never happened.

If you like thrillers and romance you are going to love this series. Sam may be a badass detective but when off duty, she enjoys wearing Manolos and Jimmy Choos and some Vera Wang. And you also are going to love the other characters. They are so funny!! I have to admit that ok, Nick is hot and I love his character but I have a soft spot for Freddie Cruz. He is effing PERFECT! He is funny and smart but very humble. And there is Chief Holland, Sam’s dad. The guy is quadriplegic but he’s still a brain. Gonzo, McBride, Malone, Farnsworth… funny and loyal. Stahl… HATER! Scotty... you gotta love him!

So, basically in the five books - and one novella - available, you’ll see how Sam and Nick’s relationship develops and faces new challenges in each book. Other characters, like Gonzo, Cruz and McBride tell their stories when their life suddenly changes. All of the books are so interesting. I don’t particularly enjoy politics or even try to understand it but Marie Force made it easy to read because she’s an amazing storyteller.

I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!!!!

PS. I didn't mention above the latest addition to the series... FBI Special Agent Avery Hill. *drool* I hope to "see" him more often from now on. <3

Twisted Perfection by Abbi Glines:

HOLY MOLLY BATMAN!
Ok, I just need to get of my head that the last sentence in this book made me look like…..
 photo Wtf.gif

JUST SAYING!

“You are mine. Do you hear me? You are mine, Della Sloane. I will take care of you. Nothing is taking you away from me. Nothing.” - Woods

Anyways, let’s get back to the review (LOL)…
Another book by Abbi Glines that I absolutely adored! I only got to know her this year by reading the Too Far series and let me tell you, she has become one of my favorite authors. There is something about her books that keep you turning and turning the pages until it’s done. It has happened in every single one, I can’t seem to stop reading till it ends. So, mayor warning for future readers, DON’T READ THIS IF YOU HAVE SCHOOL, WORK, SHORES OR ANYTHING REMOTELY IMPORTANT TO DO, because you’ll end up not doing those.(GUILTY) -.-

This is the story about Woods, who we met in the Too Far books, and I don’t know about you, but I always wanted to know more about him. I sooo happy that he got his own story and by what I can see, his own series.I knew I liked Woods, I did not know I would like him sooo much! He was sooo kind, understanding, lovable, charming, sweet, UGH , you can’t get enough of him.

I also like to mention the girl in this story. Della comes with a crazy bad background. She has some deep secrets that she is not ready to tell. I’m not gonna get too much into them because I don’t wan’t to ruin anything but let’s just say I loved her! I loved how she was the victim in every way but never for one second acted like one. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some alpha male coming to the rescue, but with her I almost felt like she didn’t need one, even though she got one anyways ( a very hot one indeed) ;)

The book was a page turner for sure and filled with just enough angst!

Now, Lets talk a little more about WOODS WOODS WOODS!

HE WAS JUST SOOOO… HOT!

 photo fanning-self.gif

Ok, this was unexpected, I never though of woods as a dirty talker or nothing near that area. But believe me , HE WAS!, and Della got lost with him all the way. So enough said that this IS NOT a young adult book, or new adult book, this is very much ADULT .
But he is soooo SWOON

“Is she forever for you then? She’s worth throwing it all away?”…

“She’s it. No one else. She’s all I’m ever gonna want.”- Woods

You wont see the past characters in this one, but don’t worry, you wont miss them. Woods story was enough for me and I’m sure it will be for everyone, plus I like that the story was only of them, they definitely needed it.

This is my Cast for Woods and Della:

So, if you are in for a good treat, and for a quick read, but a GOOD one, grab this book, it will NOT fail you. And I strongly recommend the Too Far Series too. I absolutely ADORE THEM!

P.S: CRAPOLA! DID I MEANTION THE CLIFFHANGER, don’t worry it’s definetely a HEA, but still, the last sentence! I STILL CAN’T BELIVE IT ENDED LIKE THAT! I WANT MOREEEEEE!

Three Wishes by Kristen Ashley

Loving family, laughs, and magic. What more could a little girl ask for?
Well, bullied Lily had a genie and she wished for a guy!

At first, I didn't think I was going to like the story since the cover says its about a genie. I've never read a genie book, so the first thing that came to mind was Aladdin; but I forged on since it was written by K.A. and I LOVE HER BOOKS. Well, I'm glad I did because I really liked it!!! The book does not surround the life of the genie per se, he is NOT the main character. The story is a contemporary romance with a touch of quirky magic.

LILY JACOBS, small town girl from Indiana, made a wish I think the general female population would agree with. I CERTAINLY DO. It went like this:

"One day, I wish to find a man like in my books. He has to be just like in one of my books. And he has to love me, love me more than anything in the world. Most important of all he has to think I'm beautiful...."

and she goes ON AND ON, describing her perfectly HOT dream man.

At twenty-two, Lily in England, found her wish had come true by meeting mysterious NATHANIEL McALLISTER. Sweet baby Jesus, he in a word is LUSH! I could not begin to describe him and serve him justice because it would take this whole post to do so. Aside from everything the wish mentioned, I'm just going to give you some of the highlights which made me drool: Nate for starters, has an English accent, that any small town blue-eyed girl from Indiana would love, then:

"He had a wealth of thick, black hair that had just the barest blue sheen to make it interesting. He had strong features, firm jaw, powerful cheekbones and a sensual lower lip. He also had glittering, dark eyes that although he didn't know it (and wouldn't have cared if he did) were the avid topic of many women he knew. Fights even broke out, were his eyes so grey, they were nearly black or were they so blue they were nearly black?"

Nate and Lily

Oh and that he's a hot gazillionaire in a suit, who likes fast cars; BUT wears casual jeans, a t-shirt, and a leather jacket; which he gives her to wear while driving a MOTORCYCLE on THEIR FIRST DATEhas a heart of gold that survived his SHADY past that made him the hard working man he is today, doesn't hurt either. He is just sooo...swoon.

They fall in love but as always something horrible happens, and they're set apart. I blame Nate's evil siblings for causing so much unnecessary heart wrenching pain. THEY SHOULD BURN IN THE FIERY PITS OF HELL! (clears throat, and taking a deep cleansing breath....*)

The book takes an unexpected twist with the event of a tragic death and the appearance of a new character. They eventually meet nine years later, go through great "trials and tribulations", and then HE is trying to work things out, while SHE doesn't want anything to do with him. (Which I thought was insane, considering the circumstances. But of coarse these Kristen Ashley, sweet, lush, possessive, hot, ultra loving alpha males, we adore so much won't be denied!

image

Good for us readers, because the story becomes a whole lot more interesting with his wooing or should I say seduction, to win her trust and heart all over again. Throughout all of this drama, the genie Fazire, offers the story some comic relief, lives as a loving uncle figure towards Lily, and provides just enough silliness and magic to make this story truly unique and memorable. <3

Real by Katy Evans

 Sizzling-HOT Stars!!!

I love this book! Why did it have to end so soon??? I want MINE like...RIGHT NOW!

Ohh man, I think this book should have come with some warnings:
 Don't read it...
...if you have some heart disease
...in public (it's THAT hot)
...in a not-well-oiled chair (you'll be squirming A LOT)
...(or in my case) if you live in a tropical island in which the sun is blazing hot (there's only so much HEAT    you can take)

----------------
As I said before, I loooved this book. Remy is the definition of HOTNESS, he had me at DIMPLES! *_*

This book brings something new that I have never read in a book before. And I loved that the author ventured into this new thing that is the REAL thing. Remy is very possessive but he's not the common alpha male... he's more like a possessive alpha male; alpha male squared. But what I like about this is that he is aware of his condition and what it entails. Its consequences and the fact that it messes with his thoughts and feelings. And because of that it is hard for him to express what he feels, so he solves the problem with music. The author made possible for Remy to say what he really felt and more without uttering a single word. And with the playlist they used...words weren't needed.

 ----------------

With a raging temper that ignites with the merest flick, Remington Tate is a underground fighter and a very good one at that. He meets Brooke - in a fight - who recently graduated from college and knows all about physic therapy...so convenient ;). So after a job offer from Remy and an acceptance from Brooke it was like... LET THE SQUIRMING, TORTURE AND TEMPERATURE RISE BEGIN! Seriously, they worked together and they were sooo aware of each other. She was like in heat or something and he, being all hot, sweaty and most of the time shirtless... Hello! that didn't help her case. And poor me that was reading all that. :( Jeez! I was like: Dude, stop ignoring her, do something so I can read the book in peace! But when he heard me...then was worse. :S

 ----------------
 <3  Remy
"And I don't want the world to see me
 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am..."

Dirty Red by Tarryn Fisher

Oh mon Dieu!!! Did I read what I read?

I confirmed my suspicions… she is a BITCH! (*clears throat* pardon my French)
So Leah is the main character in this book and also…. the main bitch.

Sorry sorry! I’ll back off… no pinky promises, though. :D

-----

Leah and Caleb are married, they just had a baby girl -Estella- but Mommy Dearest doesn’t want to be a mommy, she just wants to be a wife (tsk, tsk). In this book you get to know Leah, her upbringing, her insecurities and, unwillingly I must admit, that you can understand her better.  Not enough to justify her behavior and actions but you can see her “reasons”. With terrible parents and friends she finds shelter in vanity and shallowness.  And she shows how vain and shallow she is all right! Caleb is in a marriage he is constantly trying to accomplish, like a goal or something. He knows he’ll never love Leah the way he loves Olivia. But now he has something to live for and keep on, his daughter Estella. But everything has a limit and Caleb is already there and finally sees the reality of his marriage and who his wife really is.  Woohoo!!!

Ok, so I have to say I pity Leah in this book because she’s the ignored-rich-nobodylovesme kind of woman. Never tried to be a better person and show them she was good enough. She knew she was pretty and rejoiced in it. VAIN TO THE CORE!!  But what really annoys me about her is that she ignored the fact that she was second best. NEVER the first choice and she settled just fine. Grrrrr!

**concern: I still don’t know Noah well and he seems pretty good and I’m afraid what will happen if Caleb & Olivia’s what if, becomes what is…

This book was easy to read because I was prepared… kind of. There were scenes where I wanted to throw and smash my NOOK . But really, I love the way it is written. How well these characters are formed and the story itself is addictive. I am anxiously waiting for book #3. Caleb’s POV

Just so you know, I’m rooting for Caleb and Olivia!! If they are a nuclear bomb together… eff it… what’s a little more radiation?!!!

Walking Disaster By: Jamie McGuire

“Once she kissed me, my heart slowed, and every muscle in my body relaxed. How much I needed her terrified me." -Travis

OMG I LOVED THIS!

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE

 photo excited6.gif

OMG I don’t know how to even start describing this book! Just as a heads up, I freaking LOVE Travis Maddox! What a ride this was!

This is  the earlier Beautiful Disaster but in Travis POV, although it felt like book #2 for me. First, I want to say that what a brilliant work this was! to the author Jamie McGuire. I always hesitate when it comes to this type of books just because it could be tricky in a way that since it is the same story it can turn boring or repetitive. This is NOT the case with this one! The author made a perfect balance cutting parts that were not necessarily needed in this story but then, the important ones where still there and in Travis POV, just PERFECT

When I read Beautiful Disaster, I looooooved it. I looooved Abby and Travis together and I always knew they belonged together even though Travis was C R A Z Y! That’s the thing with this book, I felt like before this, I knew Travis and even though he was a little crazy (this being A LOT OF CRAZY) still, I loved his character and in a way forgave his craziness… BOY WAS I WRONG, I knew him, but not at all like I thought I did. This book made me understand SOOO MUCH about his personality and so much about his actions in BD. I don’t want to spoil too much, but let’s just say he was NOT as crazy and obnoxious like I though he was, and he was THE SWETEST guy ever from the start, even with his stupid action sometimes.

This book is soooooooo GOOD. But, that said,  I definitely think the best way to read it is in order by reading BD first. It just makes the journey of the second one soooo worth it! I loved the experience of reading BD and thinking I knew Travis and then being PUNCHED in the face with WD. Also, OMG he made me teary in a LOT of parts!

Finally, the most Important part of it all! THE EPILOGUE! OMG CAN YOU SAY SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! I might have died a little inside! That was seriously one THE BEST epilogue I’ve read in my life! I could read it again, and again, and again! ( I HAVE... -.-),  I wish I could read it again for the first time! My reaction was PRICELESS!
 photo images.jpeg

Really, I you haven’t read BD and WD, please put it on your TRL because it is a MUST! I already feel a BOOK HANGOVER on this one!

The Opportunist by Tarryn Fisher

"I am Olivia Kaspen, and if I love something I rip it from my life. Not intentionally…not unintentionally either. I see one of them now; a survivor of my tainted, acrid love."

Shouldn't that opening sentence tell me something?...no! Like the masochist I am, I kept reading :s

But surprise, surprise... I liked it! Didn't I say I was a masochist?!

 -----------------------------------------------------------

Ehhh... uhm... sigh* I don't know what to say. I'm a HEA kind of girl, how did I find myself reading this book?, I have no idea. But I'm surprised how much I liked it. I was soooo frustrated, anxious, wanted to scream and when I read the end I forbade myself to cry. These people are so doomed, that they never get anything right. But like they say,"You've made your bed, now lie in it", and they made so many terrible mistakes and for that they had to pay. But it's so sad to watch (*cough* read) them so in love but the only thing they do is hurt each other. I kind of hate them both. She's so...arrrgghh...so proud and a liar. And he can be the biggest man-whore ever. Yeah, their story is really messed up but what I liked about this twisted love story is that it happens in real life. People that love each other but are a bad kind of dynamite together...more like a nuclear bomb.

Yup! Definitely a nuclear bomb...

  nuclear bomb photo: nuclear 5704_formatted_nuke_bomb.gif

Anyway, kudos to the author for creating perfect characters that are far, far, really far from perfect... if you know what I mean.

PS. I really think Leah is a B****! Let's see how she does in the next book...

Forbidden By Tabitha Suzuma

Forbidden ripped my heart right out of my chest!!

animated icons photo: distressed 5374b069.gif

This book was so hard for me to finish because it is about something that is wrong and it'll never have a HEA. So I knew my heart was going to be shattered. How can siblings fall for each other? Brother and sister that were raised together, that basically were the parents for their younger siblings. Lochan and Maya felt for each other more than just a brother & sister love...they were IN love!! I'm amazed how the author could write a YA book about such a delicate theme. Being in love with your sibling is one thing but sex...? I could never write something like that because the idea of feeling something else for my brothers doesn't fit in my head. They are people that I look up to, that take care of me.

So I was thoroughly conflicted while reading this book. But Tabitha Suzuma did an amazing job. She created those perfect characters that made me hesitate and doubt. Not about my feelings toward the being-in-love-with-your-brother issue (in real life), but about that maybe they would find a way to stay together. They are so perfect that you can feel their turmoil, as if they are asking you to give them a chance to explain and maybe you could understand the rightness within the wrongness. So so perfect. Specially Lochan. He is so shy and afraid of people. He takes care of his family like a responsible father would do. And in Maya he finds someone who understands and loves him unconditionally.

This is messed up, but really, after you meet them (Lochie and Maya) you know how deep their love is. A love that not everyone finds. A love they fight to keep. A love that is doomed. But at the end, sacrifices must be done and only the greatest of loves does sacrifices. Lochie is and will be one of my favorites characters. FOREVER!
