Forbidden ripped my heart right out of my chest!!
This book was so hard for me to finish because it is about something that is wrong and it'll never have a HEA. So I knew my heart was going to be shattered. How can siblings fall for each other? Brother and sister that were raised together, that basically were the parents for their younger siblings. Lochan and Maya felt for each other more than just a brother & sister love...they were IN love!! I'm amazed how the author could write a YA book about such a delicate theme. Being in love with your sibling is one thing but sex...? I could never write something like that because the idea of feeling something else for my brothers doesn't fit in my head. They are people that I look up to, that take care of me.
So I was thoroughly conflicted while reading this book. But Tabitha Suzuma did an amazing job. She created those perfect characters that made me hesitate and doubt. Not about my feelings toward the being-in-love-with-your-brother issue (in real life), but about that maybe they would find a way to stay together. They are so perfect that you can feel their turmoil, as if they are asking you to give them a chance to explain and maybe you could understand the rightness within the wrongness. So so perfect. Specially Lochan. He is so shy and afraid of people. He takes care of his family like a responsible father would do. And in Maya he finds someone who understands and loves him unconditionally.
This is messed up, but really, after you meet them (Lochie and Maya) you know how deep their love is. A love that not everyone finds. A love they fight to keep. A love that is doomed. But at the end, sacrifices must be done and only the greatest of loves does sacrifices. Lochie is and will be one of my favorites characters. FOREVER!
